Walter Taylor

Mr. Walter Taylor, 69, of Bryson City, passed away Thursday morning June 2, 2011, in Jackson County. He was born January 23, 1942, in Swain County, to the late Raleigh and Cleo Mashburn Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Vestal Taylor; an infant son, Mathew; and five siblings. Surviving are four sisters and a brother-in-law, Marcella Bryant of High Point, Bonnie Lou and Dean Marion of Asheboro, Omer Freeman of Bryson City, and Leona Bundy of Sophia; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Avery and Patti Jo Taylor of Bryson City, V.C. and Kay Taylor of Nantahala, and Winston and Helen Taylor of Julian. He was employed by Braxton Culler of High Point before his retirement. A graveside service will be held Sunday, June 5, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Rockford Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson on Sunday from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM before the graveside service.
