Wanda Jean (Jefferson) Hooker

Mrs. Wanda Jean Jefferson Hooker, age 78 of Westfield, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mrs. Hooker was born July 13, 1945, in Forsyth County to the late John and Iris Tilley Jefferson.  Wanda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.  She was a faithful Christian of the Baptist Faith; and she loved her family, especially cooking for them.  She was an avid reader of Amish Books; but spent a big part of her time making prayer shawls for the Hospice patients. Wanda also loved fishing at the coast and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.  Surviving is her husband, Charles Ellis Hooker; daughters and son-in-law, Sandra Creasey and Brian; Connie Brown and Daryl Huntington; a stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Kathy Burt and Gene; a granddaughter, Shannon Willard and George Coe; four great-grandchildren, Alexis Pyrtle, Abrianna Simmons, Braxton Pyrtle, Ryker Simmons; one brother and sister-in-law, William David Jefferson and Mary; three nieces, Cindy Joyce, Patty Jefferson, Becky Jefferson; and one nephew, Davey Jefferson.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hooker was preceded in death by a grandson, Scotty Lee Pyrtle.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Reverend Rickey Rogers officiating.  Interment will follow in the State Line Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Westfield, North Carolina.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July19, 2023, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home.  The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the compassion and love shown to Mrs. Hooker.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 1427 Edgewood Drive, Suite 101, Mount Airy, North Carolina  27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
