Wanda Delores Boone Lyons

Mrs. Wanda Delores Boone Lyons, 83, of Lowgap, passed away Saturday evening, January 14, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mrs. Lyons was born June 29, 1939, in Smyth County, VA, the daughter of the late Gilbert Lee and Edna Marie Hutton Boone.  Wanda retired from Bassett Furniture after many years of service.  She is survived by her children, Steve Beaver (Gwen), Delores Williams (Jeff), Donna Nelson (Dan), Diana Hinson (Jerry), and Debra Beaver; her grandchildren, Melissa Beaver, Stephanie Beaver, Amy Green (Corey), Theresa Raye (Chris), Tina Antoulinakis (Angelo), Rebecca Furnare (Pat), Danny Nelson (Sara), Jason Nelson, LaTisha Chaney, Deborah Puckett (Charlie), Brenda Chaney, Luke Hinson, Ashley Bolin (Aaron), Anthony Bolin, Christina Bradley (Jess), Laura Studer (Richard), and Danielle Beaver; her great-grandchildren, Cameron Lee, Abigail Green, Evangeline Green, Lawson Green, Avery Raye, Patrick Antoulinakis, Rylee Antoulinakis, Justeena Chaney, Diana Chaney, Blake Upchurch, Maggie Upchurch, Brayden Upchurch, Bryanna Chaney, Julie Chaney, Jonah Chaney, Emily Furnare, Grace Furnare, Gunner Nelson, Kenzie Nelson, Kayley Nelson, Morgan Gill, Amanda Gill, Aiden Studer, Camden Studer, Kyndle Studer, Darren Sisk, Haisley Bolin, Elijah Watkins, Annalynn Taggart, and Avianna Arnold; her great-great-grandchildren, Skylar Chaney and Devan Upchurch; her sisters, Regina Griffiths (Jim) and Patricia Shores (Caroll); her brother, James DeFriece (Kathy); and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lyons was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Morton McKinney; a son, James Beaver; her great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Bolin, Alisha Chaney, and Skylar Upchurch; and her sisters, Doris Steele and Betty McKinney.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Pastor Corey Green officiating.  No formal visitation will be held.
