Mrs. Wanda Gammons Rogers, 78, of 324 Old Highway 601, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday evening, February 5, 2015, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Rogers was born February 16, 1936, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Ralph and Bernice Jessup Gammons. Wanda graduated from Flat Rock High School in 1954, and she married the love of her life, Raymond Bracky Rogers, in 1959. She was the co-founder of Rogers Realty and Auction Company, Inc. in 1964 and was a devoted member of White Plains Friends Meeting. Above all, she was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Rogers is survived by her husband, Raymond Bracky Rogers of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Bracky Mark and Deidre Rogers of Mount Airy; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Sam Holder of Mount Airy; her grandchildren, Dustin Bracky and Britni Rogers, Deyton Shawn Rogers, and Samuel Bracky Holder, all of Mount Airy; her great-grandchildren, Kenedi Blaire Rogers and Hudson Bracky Rogers, both of Mount Airy; a special sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Terry Newman of Mount Airy; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Alton and Carol Gammons, Arvil and Janie Gammons, and Cleon and Linda Gammons, all of Mount Airy; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Charlotte and Wade Moore of Mullins, SC; and many special nieces, nephews, and other relatives. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Tyson Bracky Rogers. The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 8, 2015, at 3:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Jake Penley and the Rev. Billy Britt officiating. Interment will follow in the White Plains Friends Meeting Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at the funeral home. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the amazing staff at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
