Mr. Warren Ray Atkins, age 70, of Ararat, passed away peacefully at his residence. He was born June 15, 1956, in Surry County, to the late Otis William Atkins and the late Edith Marie Jones Atkins. Mr. Atkins was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He worked for Wake Forest University in the maintenance department; he was a man of God and loved his Lord. Warren could be described as a “consistent.” man. He was always the same person if you meet him today, tomorrow or 10 years ago. Mr. Atkins loved everyone, but his grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him much happiness in his later years.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Rita Stanley Atkins; daughters and son-in-law, Deean and Darrell Patterson, Jana Torres, and Amy and Armando Torres; his son Nathan and Erica Atkins; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister Edie Gammons; brother, Gurney Atkins; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Atkins, J.D. Atkins and Danny Wayne Atkins.
Visitation for Mr. Atkins will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 AM, in the Moody-Davis Chapel with pastor Tanner Wood officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to By Faith Baptist Church.
