Mr. Roy Wayne Creed, 92 of Mount Airy, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving and supportive family on Wednesday morning, June 17, 2026. He was born May 22, 1934, in Surry County to the late John Banner “Johnnie” Creed and Hazel Nina “Nannie” Davis Creed. Mr. Creed proudly served our country in the US Army and retired from Westinghouse after many years of dedicated service. Mr. Creed loved to play bluegrass music with the group The Country Boys. Surviving Mr. Creed are his daughter, Debi McHone and Richard Whitley; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim Creed and Michelle, Danny Creed and Lori, and Michael Creed and Sheila; grandchildren, Zane Creed, Samantha McHone, Zach and Lauren Creed, Maddie Creed, Laken Creed, Luke Creed, and Billy Creed; great-grandsons, Tyree Creed and Henry Creed; several nieces and nephews; and by many more family and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Creed was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Bobbie Ruth Macey Creed, four sisters, Trudy Faye Creed, Lola Frances Creed, Fannie Elizabeth “Lizzie” Creed Carpenter, and Mae Ruth Creed Clifton; an infant brother; and by three more brothers, Bernie Hampton Creed, Ralph James Creed, and Johnnie Ernest Creed. A graveside service will be held Monday, June 22, 2026, at 3:00pm in the Creed Family Cemetery with Pastor Mark Mayes officiating. Military honors will be provided by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Pilot Mountain Post 9436 and Mt. Airy Post 2019. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1:30 - 2:30pm. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 325, Dobson, North Carolina 27017. The family would like to give special thanks to the caregiver, Paula Miranda, Kerry Dunn, and Dawn Shelton Rook. Moody’s of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Creed family.
