Wilbert Lee Tew

Mr. Wilbert Lee Tew, 74, of Ararat, NC, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Tew was born February 26, 1938, in Harnett County, to the late Wilbert Alton and Nova Lee Jackson Tew. He served our country in the United States Army. Mr. Tew was a retired construction manager and a member of Christ Community Church in Greensboro. He was a Mason and a former member of the Shriners. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Peggy Smith Tew of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy and Todd Councilman of High Point and Lisa Tew of Pittsboro; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Cyndi Tew of Greensboro and Alton and Jo Ann Tew of Ararat, NC; eight grandchildren, Logan Tew, Greyson Gainey, Zander Gainey, Zoe Tew, Anna Tew, Whitney Ferrell and her husband, Terry Maxwell, Brandon Roberson and John Councilman; a great-grandson, Jaxson Tew; and a sister and brother-in-law, Montez and Ronnie Thompson of Henderson. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 19, 2012, from 12:00 until 1:00 PM at Adams Farm Community Church. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Adams Farm Community Church, 5113 Mackay Road, Jamestown, with the Rev. John Kimmons officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
