Mr. William Phillip Clabo, age 73, of Mount Airy passed away on July 25, 2026, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Knox County TN, November 22, 1952, the son of the late John and Margaret Walker Clabo. Mr. Clabo was a native of Knoxville, TN and was a graduate of University of Tennessee where he played football from 1971-1975. He retired from Clayton Homes as a property manager and was a member of Sand Branch Methodist Church in Knoxville, TN. Phil was a humble man and cherished his time in Mount Airy where he spent time with his grandchildren and watching them excel in Mount Airy Sports. Surviving are his sons and daughter-in-law, Tyson and Kendra Clabo and Clark Clabo; grandchildren, Alissa Clabo, Ethan Clabo, Cameron Clabo, Madison Clabo; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Mike Underwood, sister-in-law, Tina Clabo and brother-in-law, Doug Phipps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Susan Phipps and Doug Clabo. A private graveside will be held at Oakdale Cemetery, and a memorial service will be held in Knoxville, TN at a later date. Mr. Clabo’s funeral arrangements are entrusted with Moody Funeral Service of Mount Airy.
