Mr. William Harless Fleming, Sr., 77, of 431 Rockford Street, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday evening, June 6, 2015, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Fleming was born July 22, 1937, in Carroll County, VA, the son of the late James Marvin and Ida Belle Myers Fleming. Harless retired as the inventory control foreman from Brenner Iron and Steel Company and was a member of The Church of God of Prophecy. He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Rhonda Fleming Cochran and Phoebe Renae and Harvey Shaffer, all of Lowgap; three sons and daughters-in-law, William Douglas and Cindy Fleming of Galax, VA, Jeffrey Harless and Angie Fleming of Lowgap, and William Harless Fleming, Jr. and Susan Fleming of Mount Airy; twelve grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley Ray and Linda Fleming of Lowgap and Leon Gray and Judy Fleming of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; and a longtime companion, Heidi Willard of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fleming was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Lois Fleming; and five brothers, Marvin Frazier, Dewey Frazier, Elroy Fleming, Grover Fleming, and Burl Fleming. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at 3:00 PM at Shorts Creek Church of God in Austinville, VA, with the Rev. Curtis Stump officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Airy Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1053, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or Mount Airy Fire Department, 439 Rockford Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
