William Stephen Gilley, Jr.

Mr. William Stephen Gilley, Jr., 48, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. He was born in Surry County, on December 22, 1972, the son of Pauline S. Gilley and the late William Stephen Gilley, Sr. Mr. Gilley was a graduate of Mount Airy High School and Western Carolina University. Stephen loved caring for animals. Surviving is his mother, Pauline Smith Gilley; cousins, Renee Alexander, Philgene (Peppye) Montgomery, Jr., Mikie Gilley, Jr., Tracey Vogler, Shawn Gilley, and Jennifer Gilley Salyer. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Monk and Dorothy Gilley and Paul and Mable Smith. A graveside service will be held Monday, November 8, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery with Rev. Buford Jessup officiating. Mr. Gilley will lie in state on Sunday from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM at Moody Funeral Service of Mount Airy, NC. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Surry Animal Rescue 1106 S. South St., Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Service of Mount Airy, NC is serving the Gilley family.
