Mr. William Junior Rogers, 84, of the Collinstown Community in Stokes County, passed away Tuesday evening, October 30, 2018, at Wake Forest Baptist Health Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Junior was born August 11, 1934, in the Asbury Community in Stokes County to the late William Andy and Mattie Lee Nunn Rogers. He was a retired tobacco and cattle farmer. He also worked 17 years part-time at Otis Jones Surveying Company.
Junior was a veteran of the United States Army where he served as a medic in the First Armored Division (Old Ironsides).
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sarah Mitchell Rogers of the home; two daughters: Mitzi Boyette and husband, Brad, Kristi Tolliver and husband, Ken; one son, Andy W. Rogers; three granddaughters: Hannah Boyette Strickland and husband, Jason, Olivia Boyette, and Maddie Tolliver; one step-great granddaughter, Alyssa Strickland; two special sisters-in-law: Marie Tilley Rogers and Frances Mitchell Frans; and a special niece, Kathy Martin Holt and husband Clarence.
In addition to his parents, Junior was preceded in death by three brothers: Carl, Tom, and Dewey Rogers; and by two sisters: Stella Beasley and Nellie Martin.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Collinstown Presbyterian Church Cemetery by Rev. Rickey Rogers, and Rev. Shaun Draughn. Military honors will be held by Patrick County VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home of Mt. Airy.
