William Early Scott

Mr. William Early “Bill” Scott, 90, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday evening, October 27, 2022, at Central Continuing Care.  Mr. Scott was born January 6, 1932, in Surry County, one of five children born to the late Early Reid and Daisy Annabelle Callahan Scott.  Bill served our country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean war.  He retired as the service manager from Simmons Nissan after many years of service and was a faithful member of Grace Moravian Church as long as his health permitted.  He is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, William Gregory “Greg” and Holly Scott of Mount Airy, Andrew Reid “Andy” Scott of Clemmons, and Christopher Jackson “Chris” Scott and Lynn Payne of Cana, VA; five grandsons, Dustin Gregory Scott and his wife, Ashley, Andrew Kyle Scott, William Coleman Scott, Jackson Snow Scott, and Dillon Gray Scott; three great-grandchildren, Lily Scott, Sylus Scott, and Haley Scott; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Lou Scott of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his wife, Millie Jacqueline “Jackie” Coleman Scott; a daughter-in-law, Kim Scott; two sisters, Imogene Owens and Barbara Hicks; and a brother, Charlie Scott.  A service of worship and celebration of Bill’s life will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Grace Moravian Church, with the Rev. Robert “Bob” Peterson and the Rev. Robert Wolfe officiating.  Burial will follow in God’s Acre, with military honors conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Moravian Church, 1401 North Main Street, Mount Airy, NC  27030; or Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 1427 Edgewood Drive, Suite 101, Mount Airy, NC  27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
