William Craig Slate

Mr. William “Craig” Slate, age 62, of Mount Airy, passed away unexpectedly on January 22, 2024, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.  Mr. Slate was born in Surry County on November 15, 1961, to Jeanie Carolyn Norman Steele and the late Billy Gray Slate.  Criag was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.   He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.  Surviving is his wife of 38 years, Susan Ring Slate; three sons and daughters-in-law, Craig Gralyn Slate, Mitchell Levi Slate and wife Courtney, William Cody Slate and wife Hannah; three grandchildren, Maverick Levi Slate, Crew Hudson Slate, Willow June Slate; his mother, Jeanie Carolyn Norman Steele; a sister, Christina Steele.   Mr. Slate was preceded in death by his father, Billy Gray Slate; and a sister, Cindy Quesenberry Husky.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 5:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church in Mount Airy with Pastor Alex Martin and Pastor Alex Bracey officiating.  The family will receive friends on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church from 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
