William Vestal "Billy" Jones

Mr. William Vestal “Billy” Jones, age 83, of Cana, Virginia, passed away Friday, September 4, 2026. He was born in Carroll County, Virginia, on December 21, 1942, to the late Walter Vestal Jones and Anna Rosebell Martin Jones. Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He proudly served in the US Army Reserves, and worked for many years for NC Granite Corp. Later, Billy carried out his calling of being an automotive mechanic, mastering in diesels. He will be remembered as a loving, caring, big hearted person, who loved his family and friends. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 64 years, Bonnie Sue Bryant Jones; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela “Pam” Tucker and Sean; grandchildren, Taylor Wright and fiancé’, Kearstyn Bowden, William Wright, Samantha “Sissy” Wright, Wesley Wright; great grandchildren, Kensley Wright, Ashlyn Wright; nieces, Melody Horton (Butch), Beverly Stevens, Dawn Hughes (Mike); brother-in-law, Mondell Bryant. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Emma Jean Hill and Harold. A funeral service to honor Billy’s life will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Sechrist officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites provided by the VFW Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 10:00 AM until time of the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Moodys of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Jones family.
