William Joseph "Joe" Waddell

Mr. William Joseph “Joe” Waddell, age 58 of Mount Airy, passed away on Monday morning, October 14, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Waddell was born on July 13, 1966, in Surry County to Nancy Haynes Thompson and the late Jack Waddell. Joe was a loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a real estate broker and also worked for the United States Postal Service. Surviving is his wife, Robin Stone Waddell, mother and stepfather, Nancy Haynes Thompson and Wade; sister, Lisa Gough; special nephew, Justin Gough; special great-nieces, Molly Gough, Erin Gough; special great nephew, James Dean Gough; step sisters and brothers-in-law, Rebecca Cranfill and Les, Diana Thompson, Carol Finlay; step brother, Jesse Thompson and Tracy; sister-in-law, Linda Lacy; brothers-in-law, Ricky Stone, Steve Stone . In addition to his father, Mr. Waddell was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ralph and Mauline Haynes; and his paternal grandparents, Dewey and Birtie Waddell. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 2:00 PM at New Venture with Reverend Drake Phillips and Reverend Rawley “Dink” Haynes officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Moody Funeral Home from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
