William Douglas Whittington

Mr. William Douglas Whittington, 68, of Dobson passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born in Surry County on September 3, 1945 to the late John William and Pricilla Rose Watson Whittington; Mr. Whittington was a self-employed long haul trucker and a veteran of the United States Navy. Surviving are his loving wife, Delores Rose Tipps Whittington, of the home; a daughter, Candy Whittington, of Dobson; three sons and daughters-in-law, Buddy Lee and Millie Whittington of Clarksville, Tennessee, William David and Emilia Whittington of Lawton, Oklahoma, and William Richard and Marie Whittington of Texas;; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Sarah Mae Shelton of Mount Airy; and a brother, Johnny Whittington of Dobson. In addition to his parents, a sister, Peggy Lou Whittington, preceded him in death. The family will receive friends and hold a memorial service on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at his home at 488 Brayford Road Dobson, NC 27017.
