William Samuel Wilson

Mr. William Samuel "Sammy" Wilson, 66, of 166 Sherry Drive, Mount Airy, passed away early Monday morning, December 29, 2014, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Wilson was born March 23, 1948, in Surry County, the son of the late Wade Mitchell and Dula Mae Sawyers Wilson. Sammy served our country in the United States Army in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He worked at Spencer's Inc. for many years and later worked at Advance Auto Parts. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Phyllis Moncus Wilson of the home; a daughter, Dawn Wilson and her special friend, Andrew Sweitzer, of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Melissa Wilson of Mount Airy; four grandchildren, Kelsey Mabe, Kandon Wilson, Bryson Wilson, and Layden Wilson, all of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Betty Wilson of Mount Airy; and two nieces, Robin Creed of Mount Airy and Denise Darlington of Elkin. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Randy Johnson, and military honors will be conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:30 until 1:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
