Willie Oscar Freeman

Willie Oscar Freeman, 85, of Elkin, North Carolina, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Thursday, November 13, 2025. Born May 2, 1940, in Surry County to the late Hugh David and Vena White Freeman. Willie was a faithful Christian and longtime member of Charity Hill Baptist Church, where he proudly served as deacon for a number of years. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, Willie will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 64 years, Louise Barber Freeman; daughter and son-in-law, Ginger Shores and Paul; son and daughter-in-law, Donald Freeman and Kristi; grandchildren, Emily and Mark Akers, Nathan and Tracy Shores, Daniel and Leah Shores, Katie Branch, Natalie Branch, and Colin Freeman; great-grandchildren, Cheridon Akers, Serenity Shores, Cadan Akers, Raygan Shores, Haven Shores, and many other “adopted” grand and great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Janie Waller and Mike, and Christine Freeman; brother and sisters-in-law, Lonnie Freeman and Patricia, and Barbara Freeman; as well as many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Juanita Fuller, and Lou Jean Frey; and brother, Calvin Freeman. The family will receive friends Saturday night, November 15, 2025, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Charity Hill Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held Sunday, November 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Charity Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Cardwell, Rev. Claude Lloyd, and Rev. Daniel Shores officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Freeman will lie-in-state at Moody-Davis Funeral Service, Sunday, November 16, 2025 from 8:00 until 11:45 AM. Flowers are accepted or donations can be made to Charity Hill Baptist Church at 423 Union Hill Road, Thurmond, NC 28683. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Freeman family.
