Mrs. Zelphia "Pauline" Ayers 76 of Cana, VA. and formally of Walkertown passed away Friday August 8, 2014 at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, Dobson, NC. Mrs. Ayers was born May 6. 1938 in Patrick County, VA. to the late William Claude and Ester Anne Marshall Gunnell, she was retired from the First Presbyterian Church in Winston Salem and after retirement started her own Bakery. Mrs. Ayers was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Winston Salem. Surviving are her husband Melvin Ayers of the home, one son and daughter-in-law Arvin and Robin Ayers of Cana, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren and by, three brothers and sisters-in-law Vernon Gunnell of Clemmons, Elmer and Shelby Gunnell of Mt. Airy and Larry and Juanita Gunnell of Cherryville. Funeral services will be held Tuesday August 12, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Pastor Brad Stamey and Pastor Brian Alverson with burial to follow in the Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends Monday night 6 to 8 P.M. at Moody Funeral Home. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and volunteers at the SECU Family House in Winston Salem for all their love and kindness.
